Material & Methods: Cross-sectional surveys with multi-stage cluster sampling procedure were used to collect random samples from Hamedan high school female students (n = 670) in Aug 2016. Students completed the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) and demographic Questionnaire to assess depression and its factors. Data was analyzed using the SPSS16. A multilevel logistic regression model was used to predict depression risk factors for students. Result: 72/6 percent of students screened positive for depression (22.4% of mild and moderate and 2.50 percent severe depression). Second grade students had the highest incidence of depressive symptoms. Logistic regression analysis showed that by increasing the rate of family income, the risk of depression were significantly reduced (P <0/05) as well as public schools compared to non-government schools have higher depression risk (P <0/05). Conclusion: Depression was prevalent in a sample of female secondary school students in Hamadan. It correlated with some demographic factors.
