چکیده
AIM: The purpose of this study was to evaluating a case of Cemento-Ossifying Fibroma in maxilla. Introduction: Cement-ossifying fibroma (COF) is a fibro-osseous neoplasm containing both fibrous and osseous compartments. Periodontal membrane is the origin of this lesion. This bone tumor consists of highly cellular, fibrous tissue that contains varying amounts of abnormal bone. COF is very closely related to other lesions such as fibrous dysplasia, periapical cemental dysplasia (PCD). CBCT scan is an effective radiographic modality to differentiate this tumor from other similar lesions and can determine the exact border of the lesion and its internal structure, also it has facilitated determining the exact size of the lesion in different dimensions. Case description: Here is a clinical case of a 40-year-old man with a mass in the left side of the face and a large swelling over the hard palate and molar and premolar region. The first time he noticed the mass was 1 year ago and it was gradually growing. It is a bony tumor of the maxilla of possibly odontogenic origin with aggressive behavior and high tendency for recurrence. Conclusion: Differentiation of Cemento-Ossifying Fibroma from other pathologies is crucial and it is important to know its characteristics. Clinical significance: COF should not be confused with other fibro-osseous lesions considering that their management is usually different.
